9-19-25   THOUGHTS

Two “continuing tenses” jump out if our reading: “kept entrusting Himself to Him” and “you were continually straying”.    What Christ did left us an example to follow. The expected result is in verse 24b “ so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness;”.   It’s all about “dying and living.”   The position of “now you have returned...” is absolutely necessary!  Past, present and future, our Lord covers it all!

1Pet 2:21-25    For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,  22  WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH; 23  and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but
kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24  and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. 25  For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.

A Prayer:
Help us ,O God, to die to sin that we might live to righteousness.  May we keep on entrusting ourselves to You.  May we return to the Shepherd and Guardian of our souls, and abide there continually.   We exalt Your  name and lift You up with thanksgiving and praise.  It’s in Jesus’ name that we pray,   Amen.
